The team made two trips to Angola to conduct this study. During the first trip (October to December 1994) the team was unable to interview active soldiers and concentrated on interviewing demobilized ex-soldier and other war-affected sectors  of Angolan society in Benguela, Lobito, Luanda, Lubango, and Malanje.
