Sílvia Leiria Viegas, uma especialista estudou a cidade de Luanda durante seis anos e escreveu uma tese de doutoramento em Arquitectura. Durante seis anos, a cidade de Luanda ocupou-lhe o pensamento, mesmo que ainda hoje lhe resulte difícil explicar porque razão resolveu fazer da capital angolana o tema da sua tese de doutoramento em Arquitectura. Sílvia Leiria Viegas escreveu um estudo de mais de 600 páginas sobre o que se tem feito em matéria de urbanismo na cidade nos últimos anos e chamou-lhe Luanda, Cidade (im)previsível? Governação e transformação urbana e habitacional: paradigmas de intervenção e resistências no novo milénio.
