The three crew members of the privately owned DC-4 aircraft which was intercepted and forced down by Angolan Mig fighters in Kuanda-Kubango province on January 20, were transferred to Luanda last Saturday. The aircraft with eight passengers on board was carrying supplies for UNITA. It was intercepted whilst overflying Cuito-Cuanavale in direction of Bailundo.

Today, the United Nations Security Council authorized the UN forces in Angola to remain for an additional four months because of the delay in the implementation of the Lusaka Protocol. The Security Council members approved the Secretary General's recommendations to prolong the mandate of the UN forces until April 30.
