The international community, through various humanitarian organizations, is deeply involved in Angola to minimize the shortages, above all in food and medicine, affecting the people.
UNAVEM Short Report
A certain trend has been noted in reports coming in from UNAVEM teamsites. It appears that both Government and UNITA liaison officers have become less cooperative with UNAVEM officers at local level. Relief agencies may experience a low level of cooperation from formerly cooperative officials.

Food Security Bulletin – July to September 1991
National Early Warning Unit, July to September 1991: This bulletin presents the food security situation in Angola as perceived at the end of September 1991, included analysis of the following six staple food commodities: maize, cassava, sorghum, millet, wheat and rice. Taken together these commoditie contribute about 60% to the toal caloric intake of the average Angolan diet.
