Humanitarian assistance in Angola is currently limited to emergency interventions that support the most vulnerable populations, mainly the high number of new Internally Displaced Persons (NIPDs) which continues to increase daily. In the last issue of this publication we reported 132,000 NIDPs.

As the current developments on the political-military situation in the country clearly demonstrate, any escalation in the conflict will lead to inevitable increased humanitarian needs in Angola. Furthermore, the limited access to affected persons, whose majority is displaced, narrows down the emergency assistance.

The last few months have witnessed a deterioration of military situation in the country. Over that period, the number of cease-fire violations has multiplied, the hostilities towards civilians have increased and the number of newly displaced people doubled.
